The Archbishop’s Palace
I had the very good fortune this afternoon to be given a quick but very interesting tour of Bishopthrope Palace, The Archbishop of York’s residence. The Palace has been the principal home of the Archbishops since 1241. It is not open to the public at all and Tim’s friend, The Archbishop’s domestic chaplain. arranged for Gordon Smith, the Warden of the Palace, to show us round. The following are the photographs I hurriedly took. The Chapel has just been restored to it’s medieval state and we were among the first to see it. I am grateful that we got to to see the place.
