The Unforseen Consequences of Wit

The writer of the “Purple Cow” verse, Gelett Burgess, came bitterly to regret his humorous offspring as every new acquaintance felt compelled to quote it to him for ever-after. At least he had a sense of humor in his misery as he penned the second verse Ah yes  I wrote the purple cow.

I wish I had as much wit at my self inflicted wounds. JWS
